The Census Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that Census Takers follow the established data collection procedures to assure the quality of data collected, and the achievement of data collection targets. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, assisting Census Takers with identifying the boundary of the assigned geographic area, conducting quality checks, reviewing completed questionnaires, monitoring and reporting on the progress of data collection.

Job Summary – Census Taker

The Census Taker is required to walk the entire geographic area assigned, systematically list all buildings; identify and document every dwelling and household, conduct interviews for all usual residents of each household, accurately record responses and fill out the respective census questionnaires completely. The Census Taker is also required to inform his/her supervisor of any challenges encountered that may negatively affect data collection activities.

Note:
  1. The job of Census Supervisor and Census Taker necessitates working outside of usual business hours.
  2. The 2022 Population and Housing Census will be technology driven, as such Census Supervisors and Census Takers will be primarily using tablet computers in the execution of their responsibilities.
